Ani Thinley Sangmo
Ani Thrinley Sangmo was born in 1967 in a village called Repe in Bhutan. She has 9 members in her family, including herself. She has two sisters, 3 younger brothers, and two little sisters, one younger sister is with her in nunnery (Ani Dechen Palmo). She became a nun at the age of 23 in Bhutan. She likes living among other nuns. She is from a farming family, and unfortunately her father died. She spent a year as a nun in Bhutan and then Rinpoche sent her to Yolmo (Nepal) as one of the first five nuns to go there and established a nuns’ community. In Yolmo, under Rinpoche’s guidance, she accomplished four three-year retreats, a remarkable achievement. What she likes most about being at Tek Chok Ling is being one of Rinpoche’s main cooks and serving him. She cooks his ting momos (Tibetan dumpling), porridge, vegetables, rice and meat. She prepares and serves afternoon tea for Rinpoche as well as evening soups. Her gentle smile and friendly presence help Rinpoche’s visitors to feel at ease, and she often hands out candy after interviews! Currently Ani Thrinley Sangmo is assisting Rinpoche with other two nuns (Ani Tsultrim Sangmo and Ani Mingyur Sangmo). She has been serving Rinpoche since 2009. She would like to continue to cook and take care of Rinpoche, as well as do more retreats. She also said that she is very fortunate and lucky to be Rinpoche’s disciple and serve him.
