Eight Things to Remember
Just as the greatest of all footprints is the elephant's, the Buddha said that the greatest of all contemplations is to consider impermanence. What are the benefits of reflecting on impermanence? There are three:
it causes us to undertake the practice of dharma
it causes us to be enthusiastic and diligence in our practice
it causes us to perfect realization
it causes us to be enthusiastic and diligence in our practice
it causes us to perfect realization
If we don't remember the fact of impermanence, even though we practice the dharma, we will find it hard to do so correctly.
