Ani Deki Dolkar
I am Diki Dolkar from Dolpa district which lies in the Himalayan region of Nepal. I was born on the 24th of October 2003 in a middle-class family where I have my parents and two siblings. I received some education from the village school but due to the absence of some other facilities, I didn’t get proper education there. Like so many Nepali children, particularly girls, mostly had to do chores like collecting firewood and look after cattle instead of going to school. Luckily thanks to my parents I didn’t have to do any of these.
When I was a kid, I saw some nuns in my village and I found nun life somehow more appealing and interesting, so I confessed to my parents to become a nun. In 2008 I joined Tek Chok Ling Nunnery where I feel like my own home even though I was originally born in Dolpa. Somehow, I grew up here from a very small age, here all the nuns are like a family. Not only this but also the environment that I am surrounded by is amiable, loving, and compassionate. The best thing about my nunnery is my lord Guru Khenchen Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche because whoever I am today is all because of him and I am immensely happy and fortunate to become his disciple.
My admission to Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School (SMD) was in 2012 and I graduated my grade 10th in 2022. It’s been 10 years that I have studied in SMD school. I have learnt a multitude of things there. I found SMD school is more unique than other schools because it provides both modern and Buddhist education where nuns and monks can also study like other students do.
Presently, I am teaching small nuns at the nunnery, and I feel very happy to share my knowledge with them and blissful for being a part of TCL nunnery. I am forever grateful and thankful to my root guru and sponsors.
